Employee community engagement

Supporting good causes is a valuable and important way that we can support our communities. Pantheon has long had an active corporate program that supports many fantastic charities, largely thanks to our colleagues participating in organized events and challenges around the world. Beyond our corporate program our staff across the world energetically engage in a wide range of charitable pursuits, for which they can also take paid leave through annual volunteering days.

Arctic trek

Will Swift, who works in our Technology team in London, was selected to take part in an Arctic Survival Challenge in February, spending a week trekking and camping as part of a group of nine led by three ex-marines, in temperatures as low as -16C. The trip was funded by Pantheon and all funds raised supported DEBRA.

Team Up with Year Up

Pantheon is proud to have been a sponsor at this year’s Team Up with Year Up, held in Boston in March. The tournament, now in its 11th year, brought talented students together with professionals for a day of basketball and networking. Year Up’s mission is to close the opportunity divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experiences, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education.

Virtual events

Sadly, many of the activities we and our charity partners had planned from the second quarter onwards in 2020 had to be cancelled due to travel restrictions and social shutdowns amid the global Covid pandemic. But that didn’t stop Pantheon colleagues participating in a wide array of virtual challenges and activities to raise money and awareness for important causes. In one of our largest-ever events, Pantheon employees from around the world took part in a two-day Global Relay Challenge in October, collectively walking, running and cycling more than 1,500km in an event that began in Tokyo and ended in the hills surrounding San Francisco. Not only did the challenge raise $21,600 for our partners Starlight and Demelza, it also raised awareness of the fantastic and enduring benefits of exercise for positive mental health.

Back in May, Pantheon colleagues took part in another global event, sharing their talents in everything from music to magic, juggling to gymnastics in the inaugural series of Pantheon’s Got Talent. Our winners nominated charities the Boys & Girls Club of Portland, Nordoff-Robins and Space2beme to share the $2,000 prize.

Other virtual events supported by Pantheon colleagues last year include:

Starlight virtual quiz nights (March), Prudential Ride London (August)

DEBRA virtual quiz night (March), design a butterfly competition (April)

100km walking, running and cycling challenge (August)

Global Pantheon Cook Off for the Hive, Lewisham and Trussell Trust food banks (June and October)

Standard Chartered Great City Race 2020 for Futuremakers (July)
